The City of Atlanta Spring Scrap Tire Drive (Amnesty Event) will take place next month. The events will take place on the first three Saturdays in April. We encourage council members to participate in one (or all three) events.

  • This is also a great time to coordinate other community cleanup events and projects in your community.

Stadium Neighborhoods Community Trust Fund Seeking Program Manager

The Stadium Neighborhoods Community Trust Fund (SNCTF) is seeking a dynamic, experienced and community-oriented program manager to support its work in a contracted capacity. The 11-member volunteer SNCTF committee was created by the City of Atlanta in December 2017. The purpose of the committee is to provide guidance and oversight of the $5 million fund created by city legislation, 17-O-1080, which was passed after the sale of Turner Field and surrounding properties. The fund is to support projects and activities that benefit the Atlanta neighborhoods of Mechanicsville, Peoplestown, Pittsburgh, Summerhill and the portion of Grant Park comprised of the named streets in the Turner Field Neighborhoods Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) study. 2019 Environmental Justice Academy

PARTICIPATE: Apply now for the Spring 2019 Environmental Justice Academy! 

The Academy is an intensive, leadership development program designed to give participants the skills to successfully identify environmental challenges and achieve sustainable, community environmental improvement goals. Everyone is welcome to apply – community advocates, college students/faculty/staff, government officials and any other group or person motivated to acquire interpersonal skills and community organizational tools to identify environmental challenges and achieve sustainable, environmental improvement goals.

This fourth class of the EJ Academy is a three-day, on-site training (March 28 – 30, 2019) followed by homework assignments and online sessions to be completed within one month. After completing the Academy, participants will attend a capstone event on May 10, 2019, where they will present a project which draws upon tools/skills learned through the Academy. March sessions will be held at AMSC’s Easley Pavilion, 1630 Metropolitan Parkway, S.W. Atlanta, GA 30310.

The Environmental Justice Academy’s co-sponsors are Atlanta Metropolitan State College, the Center for Sustainable Communities, RCE Greater Atlanta and the US Environmental Protection Agency Region 4.

Thanks to the smart, tireless, and humble work of Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and Councilmember Andre Dickens, we are closer than ever to the dream of safe, equitable mobility.

We’re proud of the advocacy work that’s gotten Atlanta this far. None of this would be possible without the support of our members. But as I told our ABC staff and board shortly after Mayor Bottoms announced the creation of an Atlanta Department of Transportation, “Now comes the hard part.”

Apply Now! 2019 Community Investment Fund Grant and Upcoming Dates

Good afternoon NPU-V Partners,

This is a reminder that the 2019 CIF grant application is officially live! Please continue to help me market this opportunity by sharing the attached application within your NPU-V networks. The deadline for all applications is March 25, 2019 at 5pm.  The board will be hosting a grant writing training session tomorrow Saturday, March 16th from 11-1pm. This session will cover the basics of submitting an RFP and will be helpful to first time CIF applicants. Next Tuesday, March 19, the board will host a technical assistance training session from 6-7:30 at Barack and Michelle Obama Academy. As you know, this is an opportunity for applicants to sit down with CIF board members to review your application and answer any questions ahead of the March 25th deadline. Please note, first time applicants are required to attend at least one of these sessions. If you have any questions regarding the upcoming trainings, please let me know. I’m happy to assist you.

You’re Invited to Join the Resident Leaders for Equity Program

Greetings Change Agents!

I would like to invite you and other residents across the NPU-V neighborhoods (Peoplestown, Mechanicsville, Summerhill, Adair Park, Pittsburgh and Capitol Gateway) to apply to be a part of our 2nd Cohort of the Resident Leaders for Equity (RLE) Program. This leadership development program was created to strengthen community knowledge of the role structural racism has played in the growth and development of our communities while exploring the skills and strategies required to realize transformative neighborhood change.  RLE is implemented with the support of community leaders, past graduates and the Annie E. Casey Foundation. Partnership for Southern Equity (PSE) is honored to serve as the lead organization for this Program.

This unique eight-month leadership development program will teach participants about racial equity, NPU-V history, anti-displacement strategies and community building policies. There will also be additional optional sessions to support understanding and application of these concepts.

The attached is a rezoning from R4-A/BL and RG-3/BL to RG-3/BL. At the rear of the Capitol View Apartments, there is a lot that is zoned R-4A/BL and RG-3/BL.
