Per Scholas Courses

Good morning and Happy Holidays!

As the year wraps up, I just wanted to say thank you for your support of Per Scholas this year through your referrals! Through your assistance, Per Scholas is able to achieve its mission of providing no-cost technical training, career development, and job placement for talented individuals from underrepresented populations in the tech industry.

2019 is coming swiftly to a close, but our 2020 calendar is out and courses are filling up just as quickly! I have attached the start dates and locations for our first quarter offerings. Here is a brief description of each course:

The IT Fundamentals – A+ Course is a 15 week course that prepares eligible students to sit for and pass the CompTIA IT Fundamentals+ and A+ certification exams while integrating applied learning strategies to improve test taking skills. This course covers hardware, software, coding, security, networking, troubleshooting for mobile devices, printers, and computers, and more.

The Network Support Course is a 15 week course that prepares students to sit for and pass the CompTIA A+ and Net+ certification exams. This course covers hardware, software, installation, configuration, maintenance, network detection, troubleshooting for mobile devices, printers, and computers, and more.

If you have any students interested in being considered for either of our courses, follow these steps:

  1. Send me an email with the student’s name and TABE scores (if applicable)
  2. Have the student complete an application (www.perscholas.org/apply)

After a preliminary application screening, the student should:

  1. Register for an information session using this link.
  2. Study for the TABE exam using these materials (if applicable)
    1. TABE Study Guide
    2. TABE Practice Book
    3. Practice Algebra Lessons | Purplemath
    4. TABE Test Prep
    5. BBC Skillswise – Math
    6. TABE Reading Study Guide
    7. TABE Math Study Guide

If the student is interested in one of the January courses, they must attend either the December 5th or December 11th information session.

Feel free to reach out to me with any questions!
