Join neighborhood leaders and residents from across metro Atlanta (with focus on communities south of I-20) to learn from national experts about strategies you can use to make your communities the best that they can be. Leading our communities through difficult challenges takes bold, innovative and resilient community leadership. This year’s training will focus on two critical topics that are essential for thriving communities:

Advocacy: Our goal is to help you — as community residents — be as effective as possible in advocating for your interests with local elected officials. You will learn tools and techniques to make local government work for your community by increasing your voice and representation in government. Learn how to educate public officials about issues in your community, to ensure they consider and reflect your community’s best interest, and to hold them accountable when they don’t. Amplify your voice to advocate for change that improves the quality of life in your neighborhood.

Linking School and Community: Healthy communities have strong bonds with neighborhood schools. Learn practical strategies that communities have used successfully to improve local schools through grassroots organizing and strengthening of school-community links. Get tips to help you and your fellow residents work with your neighborhood school by strengthening after-school programs, improving communication between parents and school officials, making the school more accessible to the community and making community resources more accessible to the school.

Who Should Attend? This training event is ideal for concerned neighbors, formal neighborhood leaders, informal neighborhood leaders, HOA leaders and members, neighborhood associations, homeowners and renters, local business owners, neighborhood watch groups, faith and nonprofit organizations – and YOU!

Film Shoot at Glenn and Wells: 5/16-5/18

Dear Neighbors,

20th Century Fox will be filming at Pirkle Salvage Yard on Wells St. Our work is scheduled to take place on May 16th & 17th from 7p-7a. We will set up on May 14 and May 15th between 7a-7p and take down on May 18th between 7a-7p.

Our Special FX department will be using Squibs to simulate bullets hitting cars and actors, you may also hear simulated gunfire throughout the shoot We’ve requested the following closures from the City:

Filming:

  • Full Closure: Glenn St SW b/t Metropolitan Pkwy SW & Humphreis St SW on 5/17 7p-7a
  • North Travel Lane Glenn St SW b/t Metropolitan Pkwy SW & Humphries St SW on 5/15 – 5/18 6a-9p
  • South Parking Lane of Wells St SW b/t Metropolitan Pkwy & Humphries St SW on 5/15-5/18 12a-
    1159p

20th Century Fox is very sensitive to the impact that filming can have on a community. Off-duty City of Atlanta PD officers will be on site during this time to ensure the successful flow of traffic through the area. It is with these issues in mind that we approach the logistical needs of the production so we can effectively work to minimize any inconveniences to those in the neighborhood.

On behalf of 20th Century Fox and Stuber Cast and Crew, thank you for your patience and cooperation; it is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions you can reach us at the production office 770-824-4567.

Respectfully,
