On Saturday, May 5, 2018, a new fundraising ride benefitting Grady Hospital will be staged in downtown Atlanta. Beginning at 7:30 a.m., 4 different bicycle rides will leave
from the Northside Drive entrance to Mercedes-Benz Stadium. We are very excited to be bringing this new opportunity for cycling to the City of Atlanta
and hopeful this event will become a great new tradition for our community. As with events of this nature, there is a need for limited street and lane closures.
The rides at 7:30 a.m. (100 miles), 8:30 a.m. (50 miles) and 9:30 a.m. (25 miles) will head south and west towards East Point/College Park. There will be rolling intersection
closures as the peloton passes for the first 5 miles. This will primarily impact traffic on Chapel, Peters and Lee Streets. Riders will return using “rules of the road” and will not
should not have any impact on traffic.

The ride at 9:45 will be a 5-mile closed course route through downtown Atlanta with some full and some partial street closures. Working with the Atlanta Police
Department and the City of Atlanta, closures will be implemented immediately prior to the ride start and will be lifted in a rolling manner as the last cyclist completes the
course. We expect all cyclists to be finished no later than 11:00 a.m. Lane and street closures during that time include:

Centennial Olympic Park Drive, NW, between Marietta Street and Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd. (two left lanes closed)

Ivan Allen Jr., Blvd., between Centennial Olympic Park Drive and Peachtree Street (two right lanes closed)

  • Peachtree Street will be closed in all directions between Ivan Allen, Jr., Blvd., and Decatur Street (officers will allow cross traffic in between flow of cyclists)
  • Decatur Street between Peachtree Road and I-75/85 (some lanes closed)
  • Hill Street will be closed in both directions between Pratt Street and Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd.
  • Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd., between Hill Street and Jesse Hill, Jr., Dr. (right lanes closed)
  • Capitol Avenue between Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd and Trinity Avenue (lanes closed)
  • Trinity Avenue will be closed in both directions between Capitol Avenue and Ted Turner Drive
  • Haynes Street between Ted Turner Drive and Walker Street (lanes closed); with full closure between Peters and Walker Streets
  • Walker Street between Haynes Street and Andrew Young International Blvd. (lanes closed)

You can view a map of the 5-mile route here: VeloCity 5 Mile City Ride Route or VeloCity 5 mile Route We hope this notification is helpful and that you will let us know if there is any additional
information we can provide. You can contact our Event Director, Joselyn Baker, directly at joselyn@velocityatlanta.com.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and support of this great new opportunity for our city and for Grady.

Toxic Substance Awareness Video from CDC

CDC is running an awareness campaign about Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS). They’re sharing a brand new video about what PFAS is and what you can do about it. It’s just over two minutes long and gives a quick overview of how PFAS in drinking water affects us.

How much do you know about PFAS? This toxic chemical is found in Teflon and other non-stick, stain-resistant products, and also in the drinking water of over six million Americans. Check out this two minute video to learn more. #NationalTeflonDay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3slgIaeCvXQ
