VeloCity 2019

Flyer: VeloCity Overview 2019

Good morning –

I am excited to let you know that the second annual VeloCity fundraising cycling event benefitting Grady Health System will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019.  Our inaugural ride in 2018 hosted nearly 1,000 cyclists and we are hopeful that it will continue to grow not only as a fundraiser for Grady, but as a premiere sporting event for the City of Atlanta.

As chair of your NPU, we wanted to make sure you were aware of this event as it may involve portions of your neighborhood area.  Three of our rides, 25-, 62-, and 100-miles, will start and end at Mercedes-Benz Stadium/Home Depot Backyard and head southwest towards Chattahoochee Hills.  None of these routes require street closures, though there will be some temporary holding of traffic at intersections for the first 5 miles.  Our 5-mile family-oriented City Ride will start and end at the same location; however, the route will be entirely in downtown Atlanta and will impact traffic patterns for a period of time that morning.

Our event is staged with the assistance of Medalist Sports, a Georgia-based company with decades of experience producing safe, high quality, professional and for-cause cycling events across the nation.  We are also working with all of the appropriate planning and law enforcement entities on the necessary permitting and safety requirements.  Please know that our goal is to minimize any impact on the communities the ride goes through.

Of course, we would love if you would consider riding and encouraging others in your NPU to do the same!   This is a fun event supporting one of Atlanta’s most critical institutions and a great way to enjoy being outside with friends, family and others who love both cycling and Grady.  We’ve also got an indoor cycling component if road-cycling is not your speed!

Thank you in advance for your support.  We hope that you will let us know what additional information we can provide and have attached a one-page overview for your convenience.  You can also learn about the ride at www.velocityatlanta.com.  In addition, we are available to speak with you by phone or present at an upcoming NPU meeting.

Sincerely,

Joselyn Baker

It is also used as a way for citizens to receive information concerning all functions of city government.
