Special NPU-V Meeting on Atlanta Zoning Ordinance Update!

At February’s NPU-V meeting, the City of Atlanta’s Planning Office presented a series of “quick fixes” that the city is seeking to implement in support of its zoning ordinance update. Due to the number of questions and concerns brought up by the community, NPU-V members voted to hold a special meeting to discuss the proposed zoning ordinance update and quick fixes.

This special meeting will be held at the Rick McDevitt Youth Center (1040 Crew Street) on Wednesday, February 21st, at 6:30pm.

We will be discussing and voting on whether to support the series of quick fixes proposed by the City of Atlanta.

Join us for our next monthly meeting, which will be held at Dunbar Recreation Center in Mechanicsville from 7-9 pm on Monday, Feb. 12.

And if you didn’t know, the City of Atlanta is divided into 25 Neighborhood Planning Units or NPUs, which are citizen advisory councils that make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council on zoning, land use, and other planning issues. The NPU system was established in 1974 to provide an opportunity for citizens to participate actively in the Comprehensive Development Plan, which is the city’s long-term vision for the next five, ten, and fifteen years into the future. It is also used as a way for citizens to receive information concerning all functions of city government. NPU-V encompasses the communities of Mechanicsville, Summerhill, Peoplestown, Pittsburgh, Adair Park, and Capitol Gateway.

See you next Monday!
