The Baton Foundation, Inc. will host its third annual informational orientation for the 2018-2019 Cultural Heritage Program. The orientation is free and open to the public.
The Baton Foundation’s Cultural Heritage Program is a year-long program that focuses on the emotional, cultural and intellectual needs of Black boys ages 10-15. Read more and reserve seats here.

The deadline for Invest Atlanta’s owner-occupied rehab and repairs program is fast approaching. Amounts from $5k to $30k are available for home repairs, and the loans do not need to be repaid, unless the homeowner sells the property (and then they only need to repay the portion remaining. The deadline is on 4/30 and you can find out more information below:

The Mayor’s Office of Emergency Preparedness would like to invite you to participate in the 2018 City of Atlanta’s PrepareAthon. For those who may not know, PrepareAthon is a National campaign to motivate people and communities to take action to prepare for and protect themselves against disasters. There will be presentations along with a fair-like experience. It will be held on Monday, April 30th from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the new Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreation Center and Aquatic Center at 110 Hilliard St SE, Atlanta, GA 30312.
Councilmember Carla Smith is hosting the 8th Annual Eco Depot at the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials. The event will be held at the CHaRM center (1110 Hill Street SE Atlanta, GA 30315) from 9am to 2pm.

Paramount Pictures will be filming scenes for the feature film “Instant Family” in Georgia March through May 2018.
On April 20th from 8AM to 4PM, we will be filming some driving work on Hank Aaron Drive SE between Ormond Drive and McDonough Blvd there will be a message sign notify the
neighborhood and through traffic of the street closure on Hank Aaron before our filming date. Detour routes will be marked accordingly.
We have been working closely with the Georgia Film Commission and the Atlanta Film and Entertainment Office. We will have secured all necessary permits by the date of filming.

On Saturday, May 5, 2018, a new fundraising ride benefitting Grady Hospital will be staged in downtown Atlanta. Beginning at 7:30 a.m., 4 different bicycle rides will leave
from the Northside Drive entrance to Mercedes-Benz Stadium. We are very excited to be bringing this new opportunity for cycling to the City of Atlanta
and hopeful this event will become a great new tradition for our community. As with events of this nature, there is a need for limited street and lane closures.
The rides at 7:30 a.m. (100 miles), 8:30 a.m. (50 miles) and 9:30 a.m. (25 miles) will head south and west towards East Point/College Park. There will be rolling intersection
closures as the peloton passes for the first 5 miles. This will primarily impact traffic on Chapel, Peters and Lee Streets. Riders will return using “rules of the road” and will not
should not have any impact on traffic.
The ride at 9:45 will be a 5-mile closed course route through downtown Atlanta with some full and some partial street closures. Working with the Atlanta Police
Department and the City of Atlanta, closures will be implemented immediately prior to the ride start and will be lifted in a rolling manner as the last cyclist completes the
course. We expect all cyclists to be finished no later than 11:00 a.m. Lane and street closures during that time include:
Centennial Olympic Park Drive, NW, between Marietta Street and Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd. (two left lanes closed)
Ivan Allen Jr., Blvd., between Centennial Olympic Park Drive and Peachtree Street (two right lanes closed)
- Peachtree Street will be closed in all directions between Ivan Allen, Jr., Blvd., and Decatur Street (officers will allow cross traffic in between flow of cyclists)
- Decatur Street between Peachtree Road and I-75/85 (some lanes closed)
- Hill Street will be closed in both directions between Pratt Street and Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd.
- Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd., between Hill Street and Jesse Hill, Jr., Dr. (right lanes closed)
- Capitol Avenue between Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd and Trinity Avenue (lanes closed)
- Trinity Avenue will be closed in both directions between Capitol Avenue and Ted Turner Drive
- Haynes Street between Ted Turner Drive and Walker Street (lanes closed); with full closure between Peters and Walker Streets
- Walker Street between Haynes Street and Andrew Young International Blvd. (lanes closed)
